Tampa St. Petersburg July 07 – July 10, 2011

[July 07 – July 10, 2011 – Tampa – St. Petersburg, FL, US]

Decided to try the Gulf side of my state of residence… First time in Tampa. Rained most of the day on Friday. Saturday, it cleared up. Risteen Gates, his wife Melanie and baby Jahzara was visiting from Illinois. Risteen was visiting his dad. Again, a coincidence that we were in the same spot at the same time. I post my next trip out on Facebook and he caught it so we met up. FB is really handy. We all went to the Dali Museum. No pictures inside the museum, so sorry, no Dali for you! So it was fun. I see my college friends more away from home (well, my previous home state of Illinois). Here are some pics:

Origins Game Convention June 22-26, 2011

[June 22-26, 2011 – Columbus, OH, US]

So, I went to the “Origins Game Convention” which was from June 22-26, 2011. At the convention, my production company, talcMedia Productions, released the Nuclear War “Radioactive Fallout Spinner”. It’s a simple add which is just the spinner replacement in electronic form for the Android (available now) and Apple (coming soon). Voice over was done by Claudia Christian (of Babylon 5 fame)… The full Nuclear War Game “app” will be coming out in 2011, so stay tuned! More information is available at:

NuclearWarGame.com

Nuclear War was invented by Doug Malewicki (and I met him earlier in California). The game series is distributed by Flying Buffalo Inc. (which is owned by Rick Loomis which is the person of the left side of the picture below).

So I went to Origins for the first time to see how the convention went. I attended the Nuclear War tournament and most of the pictures are from there, as follows:

Monument Fire, AZ June 17, 2011

[June 17, 2011 – Arizona, US]

Monument Fire Arizona – Bizarre effect. Focused on the sun. Try staring at this picture for 30 seconds and look away. It will feel like you were looking directly at the sun as if you were there.

This is a picture of the sun looking through the atmosphere saturated with the smoke and soot from the Monument fire, southeast Arizona in the Sierra Vista area looking from Oracle, AZ. This picture was taken on June 17, 2011 at 7:22 pm, looking directly at the Sun. No filter was used. The camera used is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28.The The saturated air traveled well over 100 miles to create the picture, totally blocking out the sight of the four ranges of mountains that can usually see on a clear day. These ranges are from 15 to 110 miles the west end of Oracle. This was taken by my father Robert R. Roszko and is copyrighted. You may use the photo for personal use; however, any publication, re-publication on any medium (including websites, whether free or for pay) requires written permission.

Steampunk World’s Fair 2011

[May 20-22 2011 – Somerset, NJ US] So… The Steampunk World’s Fair 2011 is over. Second year in running. As with any new con, still not running smooth. From what I heard, the Crowne Plaza hotel totally dropped the ball and didn’t file the appropriate paperwork so all the “in room” vendors were closed down by the Fire Marshall. So, all the vendors moved into the program area constricting the activities. It was a not a good scene. But of course, the mighty con goers took it in stride and made the best of the situation. Hopefully, next year, third time will be a charm… Here are the pictures I took:
